The YARINA Eco Lodge is strategically located in an area of forest that counts on the highest diversity of micro-habitats in the Napo area. This means that there are more species of animals, birds, reptiles and insects than anywhere else on the Napo river or in the surroundings.

The YARINA Eco Lodge, is located on the Napo river only 60 minutes by covered motorized canoe from Puerto Francisco de Orellana (EL COCA).

Yarina Eco Lodge is a member of YUTURI CONSERVATION GROUP, an organization involved in many rainforest conservation projects that are supported by national and international organizations with the same feelings.

Yarina Eco Lodge started in 2004 ago as a program to teach the importance of conserving wildlife and our environment with the local community. Yarina lodge is considered one of the most important and best rescue centers of wildlife in the Ecuadorian Amazon. The Rescue Center "ARCADIA", is a center that supports the conservation and rescue of wildlife in the Ecuadorian Amazon. Accomodation and facilities:

  • 20 multiple huts (single, double, triple and quadruple accommodations)
  • Each hut has private bathrooms and showers.
  • All huts are built with typical materials of the zone.
  • Water is provided 24 hours in the bathrooms and showers
  • 24 hours hot water
  • Electricity is provided through a generator from 18H00 till 22H00 (110 V.)
  • Each hut is equipped with beds (all beds with mosquito nets), closet, hammock and a lamp
  • Each bathroom is equipped with sink, shower, toilet, toilet paper, soap and towel.
  • There is a big cabin near the Maduro River where the guest can find the restaurant, the bar and a comfortable place to rest.
  • The kitchen staff offers a healthy variety of food. If the guests have vegetarian preferences, our staff is ready to offer vegetarian food.
  • The administration of the lodge offers the guests a security box to keep their valueables.

Location:

  • The Yarina Eco Lodge is located aprox. 25 Km down the NAPO river, from Puerto Francisco de Orellana (El Coca).
  • Yarina Eco Lodge, is a privately owned rainforest reserve located near the Yasuni National Park. 
  • It is in a cultural reserved zone that is set aside for indigenous Quichuas and amazonian peoples all in a primary upper rainforest.
  • Yasuni National Park is one of the most biological diverse regions in the world. All located in the Amazon basin, border of the Napo River, major tributary of the amazon river.

Transportation:

  • Regular flights from Quito to Coca
  • By bus: The company "Trans-Esmeraldas or Transportes Baños" offers its passengers the alternative of travelling at the morning or at night.
  • If you take the bus at night you will travel the route: Quito - Baeza - Loreto - El Coca. This trip can last eight hours.
  • If you take the bus in the morning you will travel the route: Quito - Papallacta - Baeza - El Chaco - Lumbaqui - Nueva Loja (Lago Agrio) - Joya de los Sachas - El Coca. This trip can last arround ten hours.
  • Once in the city of Puerto Francisco de Orellana you have take a taxi from the bus station to the Hotel Oasis. In this place you will need to show your services voucher to have the assistance of a member of the Yarina Eco Lodge.
  • From El Coca our motor boat canoes take about one hour of river navigation down the Napo river to reach the Yarina Eco-lodge.

Monday: Breakfast. After breakfast we will take a small canoe to navigate on the Manduro river until reaching the Sapococha Lagoon. We will walk around the lagoon enjoying the sounds of birds, frogs, monkeys, etc. In addition we will learn about different types of aquatic plants. Return to the lodge to have lunch.

In the afternoon, we will visit the Socali path, characterized for a variety of different jungle lands. This path is used as an introduction trail to learn about the flora and fauna that is possible to find in different types of forest. Return to the lodge to have dinner. Resting time.

Tuesday: After breakfast we will visit the Capibara path. An adventure trail with many swamps. In this trail you will see some palm trees that are impossible to see in other places. Return to the lodge to have lunch.

In the afternoon, without rubber boots and in comfortable dress, (shorts are recommended) the local guides are going to teach us how to use the blowpipe. After this activity we will take a small canoe to enjoy some piranha fishing. Return to the lodge to have dinner. Resting time.

Wednesday: Breakfast. We will wear our rubber boots and jungle dress and take a canoe up river while watching birds, butterflies, orchids and amphibians until we reach the trail "Dos ramas". We will take a short hike to learn about medicinal plants, birds and animals. Return to the lodge to have lunch.

In the afternoon, we will take the Tucan trail.  path that is characterized by its ease for birdwatching, in the area we have recorded over 350 species of birds. Return to the lodge to have dinner. Resting time.

Thrusday: After breakfast we will take the motor boat to go out of the borders of our reserve and visit an indigenous family of the Quichuas del Oriente community. Our guides will talk to you about traditions and costumes of these tribes. Return to the lodge to have lunch.

In the afternoon, we will walk through the "Guatusos trail". A new opportunity to learn from our guides the utility of some plants, about birds, insects and animals. Return to the lodge to have dinner. Resting time.

Friday: After breakfast, we will go deep inside in the jungle until we reach a small river surrounded by stones, sand, clay and other elements. In this place the guides will show us the techniques and instruments to make protractors baskets heavy objects with the resources of the Amazon.

In the afternoon, we will visit the Socali path, characterized for a variety of different jungle lands. This path is used as an introduction trail to learn about the flora and fauna that is possible to find in different types of forest. Return to the lodge to have dinner. Resting time.
